SUMMARY:Surf Crash & Burn Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Launching and returning a kayak through surf is one of the most intimidating parts of coastal paddling. Waves\, timing\, and shallow water can quickly turn a routine paddle into a “Crash & Burn” capsize if approached incorrectly. With the right preparation and technique\, however\, surf zones can be managed safely and confidently. \n\n\n\nThe surf zone is where most kayaking “Crash & Burn” mishaps occur – not because paddlers lack strength\, but because they lack timing and technique. Learning how to launch and return a kayak through waves is essential for anyone paddling coastal waters. This clinic breaks down the process into simple\, practical steps to help you approach surf with confidence and control. \n\n\n\nLaunching and returning through surf is a skill that improves with practice\, patience\, and respect for the ocean. Start small\, focus on timing and control\, and gradually build experience in stronger conditions. \n\n\n\nMeet at Hūnānaniho Beach Park (Sherwood Forest\, across from the polo field) at 9:00 am. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaddle Leaders:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nAlso known as Sherwood Forest. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	Look Who's Coming!William MurphyRoya JueTerry ShimabukuroBeth Cheng-LeeverAmy FujimotoHilary EllisSandy JohnsonNadine Owenstan dalbeckelvin tom\n	Attendance: 10 / 20\n	\n \n\n \n \n Registrations are closed for this event

SUMMARY:Magic Island to Kaimana and Back with lunch in Waikiki
DESCRIPTION:We play tourist today with a fun cruise across world famous Waikiki Beach. Bring your snorkels as we hope to stop at Turtle Canyon to find out why all the tour boats stop there. Kayak surfers can drop in on the surf breaks along the way. On our return leg\, we’ll pull up on the beach in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and have lunch at the beachfront Mai Tai Bar. \n\n\n\nEven non-paddlers can join us for lunch! The Mai Tai Bar offers free validated parking (4hrs.) or you can valet for free (it’s customary to tip!). You must park at the Sheraton Waikiki/Royal Hawaiian Hotel parking garage NOT the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center! \n\n\n\nMark Ling has arranged a discount for the lunch\, but you must pay with CASH. Check out their menu and make sure you bring enough kala for your order. \n\n\n\nYou must RSVP by May 28 to be included in the lunch reservation. \n\n\n\nThis event will be limited to 20 kayakers because of the limited beach space at the Royal Hawaiian. Priority will be given to club members. If you can partner with someone on a tandem for this event it will help to minimize the amount of beach space that we need. \n\n\n\nMeet at the Magic Island canoe ramp at 9:30 am. Launch promptly at 10:00 am. Parking can get tight at Magic Island so carpool if you can or make sure you get there early so you don’t have to hunt for a spot. – 5 mi. \n\n\n\nPaddle Leaders:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nPark in the Magic Island parking lot or along Ala Moana Park Dr. Launch from the ramp across the road from the canoe hale. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	Look Who's Coming!William MurphyRoya JueTerry ShimabukuroBeth Cheng-LeeverAmy FujimotoHilary EllisSandy JohnsonNadine Owenstan dalbeckelvin tom\n	Attendance: 10 / 20\n	\n \n\n \n \n Registrations are closed for this event

SUMMARY:Waialeʻe to Haleʻiwa
DESCRIPTION:A scenic paddle going past all the famous North Shore surf breaks. The first couple miles are the most challenging depending on the swell. We may have to go a distance offshore to pass Sunset Point and avoid breaking waves. After Sunset Beach the hazards are minimal. A little over half way we stop at Waimea Bay. Land just South of the Jumping Rock for a lunch break (pack your lunch in a dry bag). We have encountered spinner dolphin pods many times in the past. Meet at Waiale‘e Beach Park at 8:30 am for a long carpool at 9:00 am. – 9.75 mi. \n\n\n\nPaddle Leader:\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nAn undeveloped beach park that’s easy to miss with a dirt parking lot. Also known as Pahipahialua or China Walls. \n\n\n\n\n\nLanding Location:\n\n\n\nHaleʻiwa Beach Park. Park near to the war memorial if possible. If not\, park in the lot at the beach park. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	\n	Look Who's Coming!William MurphyRoya JueTerry ShimabukuroBeth Cheng-LeeverAmy FujimotoHilary EllisSandy JohnsonNadine Owenstan dalbeckelvin tom\n	Attendance: 10 / 20\n	\n \n\n \n \n Registrations are closed for this event

SUMMARY:Pōkaʻī Bay to Mākua
DESCRIPTION:This is a mellow paddle on the calm\, leeward coast. Going by World Famous Makaha surfing beach where there is also a turtle feeding station if anybody would like to take a dip and check out some honu. The mountains and valleys along here are gorgeous too. Hopefully it will be a light wind day on this shore which is usually sheltered from the wind. Nevertheless\, the wind can pick up along here so be mentally prepared to deal with that possibility. It’ll be a good one! \n\n\n\nMeet at 8:30 am for a 9:00 am carpool. Launch about 10:00 am. – 7.5 mi. \n\n\n\nPaddle Leader:\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nUnload at the old boat ramp. Park in the main parking lot. \n\n\n\n\n\nLanding Location:\n\n\n\nMakua Beach. SUMMARY:Tracks Beach to Ko Olina and Back
DESCRIPTION:On this round trip paddle we’ll launch from Tracks Beach Park and cruise down to the plush Ko Olina Resort. The reef in front of Ko Olina and the Kahe Power Plant cooling water discharge pipe are great snorkeling spots. If the swell is small enough we can take a peek into one of the resort lagoons. We’ll turn around at the last lagoon. A small shore break at launch and landing is possible so you need to be comfortable going through the surf. Meet at 8:30am for a 9:00 launch. – 5 to 6 Mi. \n\n\n\nPaddle Leader:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLaunch Location:\n\n\n\nFirst left past the Kahe Power Plant. SUMMARY:Mākua to Kaʻena & Back
DESCRIPTION:This is a round trip paddle along the rugged leeward coast from Mākua Beach to Kaʻena Point and back. Probably too early for a humpback whale encounter\, but maybe an early arrival will show up. \n\n\n\nHopefully conditions will be similar to the last time we did this in April 2024\, read Steve’s story from that paddle. \n\n\n\nMeet at Mākua Beach at 8:30 am.
