SUMMARY:Waikiki Roughwater Swim
DESCRIPTION:This event is for club members only. \n\n\n\nClub members volunteer as safety monitors for the 2.4 mile Waikiki Roughwater Swim. Members will be positioned along the race route to direct or assist swimmers. Escorts will receive a long-sleeve rash guard for their service. \n\n\n\nKayakers will meet\, assemble and be ready to launch from Magic Island’s canoe ramp by 7:30 am. There will be a mandatory meeting at 7:30 where you will be assigned a course position and receive your event shirt. We will launch and paddle to the race course after the meeting. Kayakers will be in their assigned positions by 8:15. Swimmers start the race at Kaimana Beach at 8:30. \n\n\n\nBe prepared! Bring your radio\, life vest\, flotation device to aid swimmers (optional) and provisions for your comfort while sitting on the course. SUMMARY:Introduction to Kayaking Clinic
DESCRIPTION:ACA-certified instruction of basic ocean kayaking skills. This clinic is highly recommended for all new and prospective members. Free for all club members\, $10 donation for non-members. Membership registration will be accepted for the clinic. Join online or download our club application and bring the completed form and dues to the clinic. \n\n\n\nPre-registration required. RSVP by noon Saturday\, 8/29\, to register. Leader reserves the right to cancel the class if insufficient registration. Meet at 8:00 AM at Duke Kahanamoku Beach. Parking is usually tight so come early so you can hunt for a spot. SUMMARY:Papio Kayak Fishing Tournament
DESCRIPTION:The HWK Papio Fishing Tournament returns where the goal is to catch a big\, but not too big fish. We reserved the small group campsite at Kualoa Regional Park for two days of kayak fishing. Don’t want to fish? That’s OK\, club members are welcome to pitch their tents next to the fishermen for the weekend. The club will have a separate Turtletown paddle on Sunday. You can camp Friday and Saturday nights. Fishing starts on Saturday morning\, continues on Sunday\, with awards on Sunday afternoon. \n\n\n\nDownload the entry form and rules.  \n\n\n\nCamping is for registered fishermen and club members only. SUMMARY:Double Roughwater Swim
DESCRIPTION:This event is for experienced club members only. \n\n\n\nThe Waikiki Roughwater Swim Committee is requesting kayak volunteer help with escorting swimmers in the  2026 42nd Annual Hawaiian Looong Distance Invitational Rough-H2O Swim. You will be matched up with a swimmer (usually several days in advance so you can contact them and arrange meeting on race day before the race). Escorts stay with swimmer until they complete the course. \n\n\n\nCourse: Kaimana Beach start\, Outrigger Canoe Club channel out to a turn buoy then “straight” down\, across Waikiki to the outer Ala Wai Harbor channel buoy (turn) and back across Waikiki to first buoy\, turn in the Outrigger Canoe channel and back in to Kaimana Beach. 7 km (4.33 mi) \n\n\n\nKayakers will meet their swimmer and check-in together at Kaimana Beach between 6:30-7:30 am. Swimmers start the race at Kaimana Beach at 8:00. \n\n\n\nPaddlers will receive a race shirt\, brunch\, and award (if their swimmer receives one). \n\n\n\nBrunch will be provided at noon at the Outrigger Canoe Club. \n\n\n\nBe prepared! Bring your radio and life vest. If we have more escorts than swimmers who need one\, the race committee has requested a couple extra kayaks on the course for safety. SUMMARY:Christmas Party
DESCRIPTION:This event is for club members and their guests only. \n\n\n\nWe’ll celebrate the holidays at the Hawaii Trail & Mountain Club clubhouse with our usual festivities: Potluck dinner\, Gift Exchange Melee\, Photo\, Video and Video Clip Contest and caroling. The party will be held mainly in the pavilion in the yard\, but there will be access to the main room upstairs in case of rain or snow. \n\n\n\nPupus and mingling starts at 5 pm. Potluck at 6 pm. \n\n\n\nWe’re going back to our traditional Gift Exchange Melee. Bring a gift up to a $20 value for a spirited grab bag exchange. \n\n\n\nIf you want to enter the photo\, video or video clip contest here are the rules. Photos and videos must have been taken after and including last year’s Christmas party. You do not have to be present to win\, but a printed photo must be submitted. \n\n\n\nEveryone should bring a dish to share and your own drinks. Vegan dishes are welcome.
