DESCRIPTION:This is a round trip paddle along the rugged leeward coast from Mākua Beach to Kaʻena Point and back. Probably too early for a humpback whale encounter\, but maybe an early arrival will show up. \n\n\n\nHopefully conditions will be similar to the last time we did this in April 2024\, read Steve’s story from that paddle. \n\n\n\nMeet at Mākua Beach at 8:30 am. DESCRIPTION:At our last Meet & Greet event for the year we will take a jungle cruise up the Kahana stream. This is an ideal two mile beginner’s paddle in a narrow\, gentle stream. We welcome non-members on this paddle. \n\n\n\nAfter the paddle we’ll talk story at a potluck lunch. Non-paddling family and friends are welcome to enjoy a day at the beach and join us for lunch. Bring something to share and a chair for lunch. Meet at the Kahana Bay Beach Park at 8:30. Launch about 9:00. Park at the picnic area parking lot on the Kaʻaʻawa side of the park.. \n\n\n\nA limited number of loaner kayaks will be available for this special event. Please read and agree to follow our loaner kayak etiquette before requesting a kayak. DESCRIPTION:This event is for club members and their guests only. \n\n\n\nWe’ll celebrate the holidays at the Hawaii Trail & Mountain Club clubhouse with our usual festivities: Potluck dinner\, Gift Exchange Melee\, Photo\, Video and Video Clip Contest and caroling. The party will be held mainly in the pavilion in the yard\, but there will be access to the main room upstairs in case of rain or snow. \n\n\n\nPupus and mingling starts at 5 pm. Potluck at 6 pm. \n\n\n\nWe’re going back to our traditional Gift Exchange Melee. Bring a gift up to a $20 value for a spirited grab bag exchange. \n\n\n\nIf you want to enter the photo\, video or video clip contest here are the rules. Photos and videos must have been taken after and including last year’s Christmas party. You do not have to be present to win\, but a printed photo must be submitted. \n\n\n\nEveryone should bring a dish to share and your own drinks. Vegan dishes are welcome.
